the end………….or is it?

16 07 2010

ㅗ디ㅣㅐ, ㄹ개ㅡ ㅏㅐㄱㄷㅁ!  (its supposed to say hello from Korea but if not sorry its the keyboards fault!)

We just touched down in Korea and started off our 15 hour layover with  hot showers, pringles, tuna sandwiches and strawberry ice cream!  Please pray for the whole team as we have another 25 hours or so of travel/layover time ahead of us :)

On our last few days in Mongolia we were able to make it out to the countryside in an 11 passenger van despite 19 of us making the trip! It was quite the experience and we learned a whole lot about ourselves!  For Example:  Ryan Toma,  when about to vomit from motion sickness licks his lips profusely, holds his breath, wrinkles his brow and has a weird constipated look on his face.  Summer Nakamura makes two foot wide circles with her head all while gracefully following the violent jarring and rattling of the van!  Merly Acosta sleeps with her mouth wide enough to fit an iso peanut inside! ………………. Once we reached our destination we were greeted by an awesome Man of God, Eggy!  (the spelling is guarantee wrong)  Let me tell you that God has really been using Father’s Love Church to reach out to the immediate community in UB as well as the country!  It is amazing to see so many people from various walks of life who all have been impacted by the church!  Yes, they may be a smaller church but our God is God who has no limits!  We were all lucky enough to ride camels, yaks and indulge in a traditional Mongolian Feast which I am not about to try and spell!  It consists of sheep (entrails and all), cabbage, carrots (dirt and all), potatoes and hot rocks which help to maintain the perfect cooking temperature!  It was excellent and brought a perfect end to our trip as we ate till our hearts content next to a slowly flowing ICE COLD river.  That night as we made it back to UB, we again were blessed by one of the members from church who invited us over to her house to eat another amazing meal!  After dinner one of the girls shared her testimony and how God has really been moving in her life!  AWESOME!  God has given us all heavy hearts for the people of Mongolia.  I would type more but I am tired and this computer does not give me sqiggly red or green lines to let me know when my spelling or grammar is wrong!

Prayer Points

-  That the seeds that have been planted here in Mongolia will continue to be watered and be deeply rooted.

-  For leaders to arise in the church.  ( Father’s Love Church needs men)

-  For Father’s Love Church to continue to be that beacon of light!  (their new location is in the middle of an apartment complex!  ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES!)

-   For more representatives from Mongolia to attend EN2010!

Chris……( I finally got sick! Not from sheep, chicken, dirty water or the flu but from a WATERMELON………… a SLICE of watermelon! hahaha)  SEE YOU SOOOON!

Finishing Strong

14 07 2010

Aloha Family and Friends,

Thank you all for your prayers at home in Hawaii and also from around the world, we can totally feel the Holy Spirit working with us. Team Mongolia is doing wonderful on this rainy Wednesday!

Last night the women had a great night at the Women’s Tea and got to minister to over 30 women saved and unsaved, churched and unchurched, strengthening their relationship with the Lord and also helping with personal issues in life that we all go through. “It was a great revelation for the women” said Joyce and summer. The men also had  3 individuals that went out and had a great night of fellowship through the night as we showed them how to be the LIGHT in life while walking with Christ.

Today the women are going to fellowship with one of the women small groups and as a team we will visiting an art museum and another popular landmark in Ulaanbaatar. Later tonight the Team will be going to the church for a night of strong prayer and strengthening each other as a whole body of Christ.

Prayer Points

  • Solid connections between the new church members and the leaders as they disciple individuals.
  • Birth of new small groups for the women, especially for the MEN.
  • New church location will provide an abundance of salvation for where God strategically placed them.
  • Health for Team Mongolia as finish strong ministering and disciplining the people in Ulaanbaatar.

We love and miss you all although we’re physically far; we are so close spiritually! see you all soon :)

P.S. so sorry for the lack of communication for we have very limited access of WIFI….

Shawn

“Jesus I believe in You, and I would go to the ends of the earth, to the ends of the earth for You!”

Hello family! :)

It is almost midnight here in Mongolia! We are currently at Pastor Oyuna’s house having a great time of fellowship with her family and the church leaders. Honestly, we are falling in love with this place – not the buildings, but the people.
Time has gone by incredibly fast but with the time that has been spent here, GOD has been doing amazing things through us. We are just empty vessels, ready and willing to be used in whatever capacity God has intended for us here!
So with just one more week, please pray! (which I know you’ve already been doing, seriously..thank you for your support! we feel your prayers! :) But we cannot miss this moment, this short amount of time that God has given us to make a difference here in Mongolia specifically in the lives of those we’ve connected with here at Father’s Love Church.
Our main focus is discipleship and equipping the church leaders. So this coming Tuesday, we will be having our Women’s Tea where we will also be teaching Women’s Transformations while the men have their time of fellowship.
Also pray for more men, this church needs more men!

ONE MORE WEEK!
Sunday – Service (Shawn preaches and Merly gives testimony :) and Fellowship night (Karaoke perhaps?!)
Monday – Nadaam Festival, horse-back riding whoo! ;)
Tuesday – Women’s Tea and Men’s Night
Wednesday – Prayer and fellowship
Thursday – Ride camels, omg!!! :D :D :D
Friday – Pack up and head home
We arrive in Hawaii, Friday night at 11:45 pm :) Remember! We are one day and six hours behind.

We love you, almost home..
- Summer :)

Wish you were here…

2 07 2010

Hello everyone!

It’s day two of our mission trip to Mongolia and God has already done so much! Like the title says “[We] wish you were here…” to see how God is moving in Mongolia and in Father’s Love chuch! In the mist of getting settled in, finding our way around the city and meeting the current church members of Father’s Love church, we’ve already had a chance to see God move through us to minister to a new family that just started a business. Throughout our time here God has been using us to edify, encourage, and refresh Pastor Oyuna, the leaders and members of Father’s Love church, and while our days have been long…they’ve also been extremely fruitful!

Here’s an update on our team:

Shawn – Our fearless leader! We couldn’t ask for more in a leader…a true heart for this country, humble, willing, and strong!

Merly – She’s doing great! She misses her two sons, but knows this is where God wants her to be.

Joyce – She’s not only hearing God in her own life, but is recognizing the people God’s called to build relationships with and pour in to.

Summer – She’s sitting right next to me…and doing fantastic! In the mist of soaking in the culture, she’s been building with the female leadership here and God has definitely been using her to minister and touch their hearts.

Chris – He’s been eating ANYTHING and doing EVERYTHING! He’s been “gung-ho” ever since we landed and it’s been great to see him being stretched in his own personal character and in God.

Ryan – I’m having a blast! I sometimes feel a little guilty because I’m having too much fun, but I know that this is where’s God’s called me for this next couple of weeks and I’m making the most of it while I’m here!

Pastor Camille – She’s been building and pouring into Pastor Oyuna and through it God is moving through the church here!

Above all, we’re all doing great! I think we can all say we’re being stretched in the area of food intake (except for Chris) and above that in the area of our personal relationships with and our obedience to God! Please continue to pray for us as our time here has just begun! Thank you all again for your prayers and support! All I can say is, “We wish you were here…”

We love you and miss you all,

Team Mongolia 2010

What’s Going On In 2010

19 04 2010

Aloha everyone, let me start off by thanking you for visiting our blog! This year in between June 30th – July 16th, 2010 we’re returning back into Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to re-visit our family church “Fathers Love Church” and to see how we can yet better serve them.  A few things that our team is focusing on this year is listed below:

  • Leadership Training
  • Youth Camp
  • Men’s Night
  • Women’s Tea
  • Hawaii Night
  • Naadam Festival

Above any of our own expectations of this mission trip into Mongolia this year, we’re praying that God will reveal himself to all the people of every nation. As the harvest is ready,  we will be prepared to train more and more disciples to further God’s Kingdom.

If you are staying home this season and can’t join us in our mission to Mongolia, we invite you to be a part of our “Prayer Team”.  God’s favor was moving so much for us last year in Ulaanbaatar, and we so believe that the prayers prayed, helped us to push forward with God’s grace ”With much prayer, there’s much power”.  We would greatly appreciate it if you could keep “Team Mongolia” in prayer as we prepare, equip and train ourselves to be the most effective disciples in this season of going back into Mongolia!!

Thank you all in advance for following us on our blog & Twitter (TeamMN2010).  We will be posting more info on our blog so please check back with us again. Walking in FAITH with you,

Shawn Silva/Team Mongolia 2010
